New guy here. I just purchased a 914 that needs the engine rebuilt. No stranger to the business end of a wrench, I'm going to do it myself, but I'd like to find good local shops for parts and machining here in Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley?)
Could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Rodger

Hi Rodger
Welcome to the 914 addiction.
I use
WWW.EUROPEANMOTORWORKS.COM, call and talk to Jorge, they have a machine shop and can get anything Type lV, if they don't already stock it.
And others will chime in with other options.

Never heard a bad word about either EMW or Pelican. I think they do it all from stock to crazy. Bring your wallet!

cant go wrong with pelican Parts they have a great crew there.
be careful with Automobile Atlanta.. sometimes you can get great service and sometimes they just ignore and forget about you...
Check out 914world.com for alot of great info!

NineOneFour, I can not say enough about the good folks at EMS ( Engine Machine Service), 8416 Osage ave, Los Angeles, Ca, 90045. (310) 641-7019. Bill Duncan and Dick Nuss have been around for over 30 years, at the same location, that I know of. Specialists in the air-cooled engines (Type 1, Type 4, 356, 912, and Corvair). Standard stuff or custom flavor. Having worked at a VW dealer back in the '70's, I can not tell you how many times they saved our you know what! They support local racers and the weekend warrior. They are always recieving and shipping UPS, so I know there customers are all over. Give them a call. Bill
