Post by papaphaedrus »

Are there any procedures with pics for how to pull the ignition switch from a bay?

Hiya Papa,

Yeah, what Marc said. You really have to chime in with year of the Bus in question. VW was in the habit of changing the ignition barrels regularly so as to maintain vehicle security. And this is not simply "It's either an early Bay ignition or a Late Bay ignition" kinda thing. The ignition housings (and removal and installation procedures) varied almost from year-to-year. And it gets even more complicated. Matter of fact, some of the ignition housings (like the 887A) have no documentation whatsoever. So, the year of manufacture is critical.

Sorry, I couldn't remember where I posted this question. I fixed my problem with a new dizzy. I saw something symptomatic of a switch starting to go bad, but it has disappeared with the new dizzy. It is a 74 by the way.
