Does anyone happen to have a Month/Year VIN breakdown for Type 1s? I found a list on another site but it only goes to 1967 (figures I own a 1970). Thanks for any info you can provide. If anyone wants the up to 1967 list, I can copy and paste.

My site (below) has all the beetle VINs and matching engine numbers from 49 to 86 when they stopped making them in Germany.

It doesn't show them month by month but you can get a good guess by working out how many were made in the full model year and dividing by 12 to get the approx numbers for each month.

The you can also write to the Wolfsburg museum for an actual "birth certificate" for that particular VIN. Search these pages for a link to the address.

My apoligies. Here is the link that shows VIN numbers by month production up to Jul 1967. I spoke with Everett Barnes of The Samba and he advised he has been unable to located accurate data for anything past that month /year. You can also use the list below to look uo Buses, Ghias, etc...
