Post by Milky »

Hi,
i am in need of the large Y-shaped metal heater pipe that sits above the gearbox and tubed chassis section for my 1974 type 4 engined Westfalia Bay . Mine is as rotton as a carrot and as far as i know something like this is not obtainable new ?! It would have to be carefully chopped off a scrap vehicle .Can anyone help please .If a more detailed discription is need just say .Please e-mail to liamandlou2008@madasafish.com

Here is a better way around this problem. Take the heated air from one side and run it straight from the bellows into the cab underneath the rear bench seat. All you need is a pipe the correct size welded or bolted to a hole cut in the body. You will get as much heat through this one vent as the combined system put out before. Then build a straight pipe that will pass through the hole in the frame to the side of the old wye. Next remove the original rear diverter valve and install a 3" centrifugal blower or other fan at that point, and then connect your new pipe through the rear frame with the blower using flexible plumbing boots. Insulate everything well with water resistant insulation. You should now have 1.5-2 time as much neat as the stock system provided and you don't have to find a wye.
