Anyone Tubbed a Bus this way before?

Post by DaveB »

What I'd like to know: Has anyone tubbed their Bus were they've modified the doors. I have 914 seat that set inboard some ways, compared to stock. I'm at 62 and 3/4 and want to go at least another 1.5. But I rub now with the narrowed beam. Problem I have is after adding Nates dropped Bay spindles, disc brakes, and adapters to bring it back to wide five (which I really like). I'm also hitting about the last 1.5 of the inner dogleg. S tubbing it inside the doglegs won't solve the complete problem. I thought of raising the inside of the door about 3 inches up and raising the dogleg to match. So you open the door and have about 4 inches below the bottom of the inner door and a dogleg that setup about 3 inches higher below the door seals. Opinions? pictures (if you've done it)?

Something like this? Tub goes into the door.

That's from Volksrods.com, guy named Mikeeboy. His bus is nuts. Some of his older pics are missing, but I'm sure if you ask nicely, he'll share them with you.

Here's the build thread.
