Awesome...... Thanks for the laugh. :D

SBO is down too. Was on it a couple hours ago, and now it's down. Superman at that point has not recieved an email reply from the "server dudes". He was going to give them a call.

Brightside is, i haven't visited the SBO/STF forums in a while. Nice to lurk around again.

I am not sute why the database was moved from Zen Web Services to its current host. ZWS is an awesome company to deal with and the prices were pretty good.

Sandeep

It has NOTHING to do with me!

First, thanks for the compliments Sandeep. We work hard at keeping some of the best services and prices out there for small business and individuals.

Second, let me clear the air a bit about GermanLook.com. I wish I had more information for everyone, but I don't. I turned the site over to Superman from SuperBeetlesOnly.com sometime last year. I just didn't have the time to do it the justice I felt it deserved. In fact, I had never even made the time to move it over to my own hosting. I continued to pay the hosting when Sandeep and Alex had started it. It is still there now.

So, just to clear my name, I haven't been managing it or hosting it!!! I have no idea what Superman is (not) doing with it. Both the forums database and the site itself are down now. He never changed the trouble alert despite MANY requests, so I get about 100 emails a day from the database crashes. He never changed the homepage like I asked MANY times, so everyone is emailing me asking what is going on!

It dawned on me this morning that he never transfered the domain name, despite MANY requests. So I switched it to a parked page until I can get a response from him. I hope it is soon. Worst case, if I have to, I will see about reviving the site. I am just not sure what my last backup was. We would lose about 1 yeras info at least assuming I have anything.

Sorry for the long post, but I want everyone to know that I thought I was handing the site over to be well taken care of and that my services have NOTHING to do with the current issues. Hopefully nothing bad is going on to Superman, but I hope he is able to address this soon.

Please spread the word!

Thanks Zen,

You or your company is not to blame. I have a back up of the complete site and database from April 28, 2004 incase this is of any help.

It's just so strange, no message, no automated bulk email to let us know what is going on. I just donated $200 to the site, and now it's non-existant and no info? I know he's been in the hospital, is it possible that he's not aware that there is a problem?

That was a very generous donation Jason! I had just donated too, missing my GL fix!

It keeps me linked up to like-minded people, and that's important to me, so it has value. I pay over $100 a year to get CAR magazine from the UK for the same reason!!! Lucky bastard...

Jason

PS, hows the 996 rear end plans shaping up?

I prefer EVO magazine...

Need to sort out all the rust issues in the body before I get too caught up in a somplete new chassis design!

$200!!!!!! Where we you when I was looking for donations???? :D

He is aware of the issue as he has some posts on SBO about it as recent as a couple of days ago. I just haven't seen any responses from him directly when I have been emailing him for weeks.

SBO had issues for a short time as well, but seems fine now. That is just a different host (which I think he has Top Line on as well).

Until I get a response and fix, I have parked the domain name. Unfortunately, that still leaves my company name associated since I am my own registrar on it as well, but oh well. I may pop up a custom parked page with a brief explination and refering people to SBO. Maybe that will help get it some attention.

I had an evolution to GL planned, but didn't sense much interest. If there is, I will reconsider. It was for a site for all boxer-motivated vehicles. Considering the natural mix of Subys into VW, Porsche parts on VWs, etc. If figured having a site dedicated to the boxer was a logical middle ground. I don't need more to do, but let me know if there is enough of you interested.
