Info Needed Please

Post by Urabus »

Hi peoples

I have a 86 T3 Caravelle Auto Jap Import with the heat transfer bit that the radiator water goes through ( This is factory fitted ) on the front of the Auto.

These were not fitted to the Carvelles that were sent to Australia so The local VW dealer here has no details and no way of ordering one.

So my questions are 1) Can you run the bus with out this connected or will this harm the Auto?
2) Does anyone know if their Local VW dealer has the part ( any country), if so if I send the money over would they buy one and send it over?
I am hoping to get the bus on the road very soon.

The reason I am looking at this is that the person who owned it before did not run coolant at all and I am worried that if the part breaks it will flood the Auto then I am up for a new auto.
The auto is still in the Bus so I am hoping not to take it out as I have just fitted the new motor.

Thanks Heaps

Why not get rid of it and use a normal large tranny cooler same as the large towing type of one ,simply bypass the water with a tube ,the water circulation will not be altered and tranny fluid will be cooled air to fluid

Arise Air Cooling

I thought of that but the ATF does not leave the auto the water jacket transfer is attached to the front of the auto and the water passes through the cooler and out back to the water system, not like in the other water cooled cars where the oil is run up to the radiator through the bottom tank and back to the Auto, putting a normal oil cooler on to the fittings would not move the oil from the Auto to the cooler.

have I explained it right?

Thanks
