*Wondering if anyone out there has soda blasting equipment.

*I'm mostly interested because of the benefits of not warping panels like sand blasting. Would probably need a sand blaster also though for rust patches.

*Wondering what equipment you use and if you like it and why. Any particluar brands of media you like best?

*How much does the typical auto strip job cost retail. I've heard anywhere from $500-$1400per vehicle.

*Do you do any of the other stuff you can do with soda blasting> Grafiti, fire damage ect?

*The systems I've seen range from el-cheapo $500 to the totally self contained on a trailer for $12k.

*I happen to work a job 3or4 days a week. I want to do something part time for some extra VW cash. If I can pay off the equipment, pay rent on the shop and have a few extra $$$ I'm set.

I had a low end soda kit for a while.. it was horried.

I pay about $450 to have a shell completely stripped.

The VW guy I bring mine to has a trailer type blaster.. He buys soda by the drum.

I think he paid $9k for the setup if I remember correctly.

It's all in the tank.. I have 2x30 gallons that power my blasting equipment.. I can't keep up.

Thanks for the info. I have been researching on other sites too. just FYI I have found some paint companies don't reccomend using their paint products after soda blasting. this issue is due not stripping the soda residue after the strip. the soda residue makes the sealer not stick well.

so i think I'm going to use the walnut shell method.
