Pulling Fuel Tank 76 Westy

Post by MrGolf »

Is it a big job to pull the fuel tank on my 76 Westy. Have never had the engine out. Owned it for 6 yrs. I can pull a Beetle engine in 35 minutes, but a bus engine looks like a pretty big job. Do you have to pull it to get the tank out. It is not leaking but I would like to pull it and put new fuel lines on it. Only gets driven less that 80 miles a year for the last 4 years.
Thanks

You don't have to pull the tank to do the fuel lines as they are accessed from the bottom. You can do the vent lines and fuel filler hose with the engine and tank in place, but you must remove the firewall/cover between the engine and tank, not easy, but doable with the engine in place. There are two hidden screws that must be reached from below.
