Yesterday when i left work, in the dark of course, the truck fired right up, then died, and I turned the key and it was dead. I jiggled the wires on the battery, and by the grace of God kept it moving back home. Every time i would let it idle, it wanted to die, and i popped the clutch....when it was dying the key was on, and the lights would dim and everything, almost like turning off the key.
Anyway, today after work i decided to check the battery, and sure enough, it had juice. BUT I noticed the hot battery cable (+ side) was warm. so i disconnected it and put it on the charger, but it had a full charge. I had never experienced a warm wire to the battery before...the car had sat in the same spot for about 20 hours, so I have no idea what would cause this, not how to troubleshoot.

Someone give me a clue!

Are the battery cables loose enough to pull off? Cables needs to be tight, both the +/-

For the battery cable to be hot you either have to have a pretty high draw running through it or it must have a some pretty bad connections. Either would cause the problems you are seeing. Do you have the junky replacement style ends on your cable. They tend to give trouble and can send heat a ways down the cable.

Problem solved. Broken connector splice between battery and voltage regulator. Ran solid new wire without a splice form battery to voltage regulator.
