Thing 1. Why it is important to prerun.

If you look to the left of the rail you will holes where the front tires skided to a stop and behind where I dug the rear tires in to contemplate my fate. I went to the right of the yellow Baja below who was where I was in the picture and was lucky to stop. The ledge is decomposing sandstone and the edge would not break. With the front tires at the edge of the ledge the rail could get traction. I was lucky to have a Jeep in the ride and got pulled backwards. I would of been able to drop down. The potential problem was the front brakes would of skidded and not allow the rear cage to just slide down the ledge slowly. If I accelerated I did not know how bad it would bounce when landing and the other side of the washes wall was really close. I think the rear cage might damage the solid mounted engine if it fell hard. It was about a eight foot drop over a span of eight feet. The rail has about an 84" wheel base. There are two tire spin marks in the dirt in the wash where the rear wheelspun when the front tires were just trying to go up the vertical portion of the ledge.

Thing two. Why it is not a good idea to tailgate.

Dan learned the hard way T-1 drum brakes do not stop on a dime when his brothers Jeep overshot a berm and Sean landed in a bush half in the next berm. The 1/4 panel crinkled and two head lights and a driving light were destroyed.
