Redline is about 5500 rpm...and the HP was either 80 or 82 (depending on what publication you find the spec in) at about 4900 rpm. Ray

It would be awesome in a FG dune buggy, and welcome to the forums!

The 1700 T4s are about as bulletproof as it gets.

If you plan on keeping it "stock", the DJet FI CAN be made to work quite well, or the excellent intake manifolds can be used to retrofit later>current FI systems like CIS, Megasquirt etc.

With the head gaskets removed for improved reliablility and a CR bump... and well tuned with a good exhaust system etc, it would likely make 90+HP, and pretty much smoke the tires at will on a lightweight buggy.

It is highly recommended that you DO remove the head gaskets, and replace the stock springs, retainers and keepers as these are all VERY iffy when 30 years old.

Replacing the ex valves is also considered a form of "insurance". The valve keepers CANNOT touch each other (must not go all the way around) or the valve will eventually beat itself out.

(The keepers/retainers work like a Morse taper, providing a clamping action to keep things together)
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
