How hard is it to pull the engine?......Besides the wires etc. Can you do it just by jacking the back end up? Have 2 bugs and they are easy to do...Bus looks it is a much bigger job. I would like to have the engine gone over. Do not have access to a garage type lift. Need to replace clutch and want to go over engine at the same time.
Thanks....About how long does it take to pull one?

Also anyone have the torque spec for the caliper bolts on this bus....Put new calipers on an torqued them to 70 lbs...just took a guess.

Engine pulling is relatively easy. I always lower the rear of the tranny a bit so the the engine can be pulled back complete with all its tin. I only remove the coil and oil filler pipe. There are two bolts in the top of the bell housing that must be removed to do this.

It typically takes me about an hour to pull and engine and two to put it back in. I jack the back of the bus up 6-8 inches and the front about half of that.

i just pulled the engine out of my 73 camper, the two bolts that wildthings mentioned are actually on the top of the transmission (bell housing doh!), you have to remove the starter to access one.
here's a link that might help.
