Brake lights stopped working! Switch?

Post by Indy452 »

Brake lights stopped working on my 1980 Vanagon. When I took a look at the switch on the master cylinder I can jump the wires and the lights work so it has to be the switch.

My question is....Do I need to bleed the brakes when that switch is changed? I have never replaced it before so I'm not sure what the procedure is other than simply unscreweing it and screwing a new one on and plugging it in. So I thought I would ask if the brakes need to be bleed after installation.

Thanks.

I always do, that is air introduced on the pressure side.
It is also a good time to change out the old fluid.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
