Changing fuel filter

Post by raykinsella »

I need to do it and I was wondering how folks here go about it. Like, how to prevent gas pouring all over you while down under there. A simple job to switch a new filter for the old, but can I squeeze the fuel line from the tank with a pair of Vise Grips while I do the switch? Thanks!

The make smooth jaw pliers for that task. If the hose is old it is going to crack/break.

I used a small pair of vise grips, a pencil, and a new filter and two new hose clamps. Got a fair amount of gas on my right arm - I did the job out in my gravel driveway instead of in the garage, so the gas just disappeared into the ground instead of pooling on the floor. Ugly job, dealing with gas, but it's done for this year.
