? about a TEMPORARY Stance chance (front)

Post by sharkskinman »

so as a temporary thing untill i can get $$$ and all the parts

me and ray were talking about the springs and how they change rate as you go thru them
top is a section middle and then bottom

Before i ask this understand this IS NOT a PERMANENT Thing
i dont drive my 411 really at all and i just want the nose down

I want to know if i can weld 2-3 of the middle coils together
or if heat to them is a problem
get some spring compressors and compress about 2-3 coils

I think the traditional lower technique for a 41x involves a spare cast iron motor in the trunk.
I saw a coil sprung jeep guy compress his front springs with a set of HF ratcheting strips (in order to fit a raised spring perch lift). As far as I know he still has original equipment eyes and fingers.

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Ghetto 412 adjust-a-strut = sand bags in trunk.

V2 design shown with stock bump stops loaded with 300 lbs of clay in front trunk. Still had 1" of bump travel to the stops. Drove it around fine this way. Harder to steer, but safer than clamping/hacking/welding coils.

Thats quite true.
You have to understand....mistake that it was.....the reason the 411/412 was designed with the front end high in the air is because it was designed to have strut travel for a huge freaking trunk.
The problem is that driving that way for too long...full trunk...on stock valved struts.....generally destroyed the struts (not the springs) from the inside. Ray

Ray, you're right. But with placing / removing the sand bags, it will last longer...
