Type 3 vs Type 1

So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of a Type 3 vs. a Type 1?
Type III is bigger, heavier, rides nicer...but many parts are extremely hard to find. IMO the biggest issue is the front suspension - whereas Beetles remained in production in Mexico & Brazil until recently, Type IIIs haven't been made for 37 years, and far fewer of them were sold so both new and used parts are in short supply.
