My son was out in the driveway starting to paint his brake calibers with High Temp spray paint.
My neighbor noticed that the calibers looked liked they were Plated, kind of gold color, and said the paint would not stick very well. Has anybody painted there calibers? These came from CB Performance and do look like there is a coating on them. I cannot remember if the set I got years ago had any plating or not. The next problem as 2 of them are half painted blue would be to get the paint off with out messing up the "plating" thats on them.

Sounds like Cad II, "gold", plating. It's a form of cadmium plating. No idea what prep would be to give it some tooth for the paint to stick to. Perhaps paint them with vinegar to acid etch them? Or try one of the pro solutions like "Metal Prep" from DuPont.

is good to know that they are plated. Now to get the blue paint off the one side.
