type 4 exhaust parts
I am having a hard time finding pieces to fab up my own exhaust. I can only find a handful of exhausts to buy premade and they are pretty damn expensive. I saw a post that was yrs old by Raby who said he is making an exhaust that would be under $300. Did that ever happen?
I am looking for the little pieces that bolt up to the heads. I saw some on that tangerine sight but they are like 250.
Is there any other options that are under 400?

I always cut em off old exhaust systems, they never rot up there. There are a few posts where guys have hammered thier own out but sllitting tube, but that is a lot of work.

I do not know if you have my manual but I show how to cut down stock heater box headers for use on a Upright conversion. That was before anyone sold parts. Then just use Bus for 914 muffler.

1 5/8" stubs are ~trivial to make given a vise, bandsaw and a welder. (and some tubing)
("natural" size, if you will, the resulting oval after squishing the bandsaw cut is ~perfect size for the port)
Larger is far more difficult, as is smaller--- but a 1 5/8" stub transition to 1 3/4"or 1 7/8" should work just fine.
Hardest part is finding ALL the bits in one place.
MEGS exhaust warehouse (Cone engineering) sells most of the bits and has a few kits, including a turbo ACVW kit that may have most or all you need, and if you have a list, may be able to put something together for you.
Their SS bits are also sanely priced, but if you go SS consider slip fit+brazing or silicon bronze TIG, to ~eliminate cracking as SS is otherwise very prone to.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

this is one of those super exciting things to me w/ my new tig, is finally doing SS exhaust right! I only just remembered I don't have an exhaust for my new bus, wish I had more time to fab one, although I may make the time yet.

did you make the stub pipes or buy them (little pipes from the heads).

Bought 1 5/8" stub pipes from Aircooled.net. they came with 3 bolt flange.
Since then seen other styles for sale on the samba from other vendor.
