Valve springs for solid lifter 2.5 WBX

Post by HeliMike »

Hey guys. Having an issue here at the shop where the owner of the shop has built a 2.5 WBX (go westy kit iirc) and is running a fk41 cam and solid lifters with 1.4:1 rockers. I had bolted the rockers in and lined it all up, but after I rolled it over to check the spring clearance I've got .025 coil clearance at best on stock springs. In anyone's experience, is there some springs out there that will not bind as much as these will or are we gonna be stuck taking the heads off and cutting the spring seats?
Thanks in advance

Swapping to 1.3 or 1.25 rockers may be an easier solution.

id also be concerned with the Piston/ valve clearance on overlap with aftermarket pistons, do check anyway, you need to deck the v/spring seats 1mm to gain height, that or Berg retainers 281A.
depends on your rev max, but the stock springs wont control 1.4 ratio rocker valve inertia, they may just cope with 1.25 but only at no more than 6000 rpm.

Yeah I think the decision was made to go with 1.25's and if that doesn't work then 1.1's. I'm not "the brains" behind this build so I'm not terribly informed on what's inside. All I know is it's a GoWesty "kit". It's going in a Syncro Westy so it won't be seeing a ton of RPM's that's why we were using the stockers.
Thanks guys
