where to get a good price on paint

I am going to stop buying PPG products after using them for 50 yrs.
The last red base coat cost me $740/gal......just too much.
Can anyone suggest a place to buy paint(good stuff) that is
cheaper?

Location? That means quite a bit, but the Sherman Williams (I think not certain) sold by Napa had good reviews by the only person I know that has tried it.
I have a Montana dealer near by that is excellent in matching old ACVW codes and chips, and the paint is really good. A few people I know really like this line:

Valspar makes a paint line for farm & industrial equipment that's reasonably priced (by today's standards). Decent selection of basic colors, too - you aren't limited to John Deere Green

I grew up shooting Sherman Williams, but last time I painted was in 1994. I really liked painting with it.

the NAPA urethane paint cost about 1/3 of the PPG.
sprayed well with my sata.

Well......I bought the NAPA base coat to finish the car & it had the viscosity of water.
I did not use/I now have ordered House of Color orien silver base.
I ordered 3 qts. /is that enough for a convertible?

The House of Color is usually a very high end paint, perhaps it is pre-thinned and ready to shoot with an HVLP rig??
It's usually used in many thin coats, esp the candy colors.
Perhaps similar for the NAPA?
HVLP rigs are pretty much mandatory these days, the old school rigs are ~all only for DIY jobs, and there are even DIY ish-price HVLP rigs, my son has one.
Were you able to return it or is there a pending paint deal on sale?
