my IRS rear suspension upgrade

Opening this up in case anyone has questions while I am upgrading the rear suspension on my 70vert Beetle.
Suspension disassembled, and today, I mounted the trailing arms back in place with new rubber bushings.
WARNING: this will be slow.

Torsion bars were the standard 19mm wish stock bars. Measured .768 od with the paint on them.
924/944 23mm bars are now installed at a 2* less preload, for my attempt at not having a stupidly hard rear suspension. Time will tell if they need to be readjusted for ride height.

The other suspension upgrade will be the 924/944 sway bar that is going to be mounted, after the diagonals go back on. Diagonals will have the urethane bushings installed, and bearings greased, and resealed.

How are you mounting the sway bar? I welded on new 924/944 chassis mounts to the torsion tube.

I will post pictures, as that is the main reason for this thread.
I am using U Bolts, and a few other bits.

Did you get pics of this?

I'm doing almost exactly the same thing this weekend..... But maybe waiting to do my swaybar, as the front hasn't been upgraded and I am on narrow tires still....

Ted,
Thanks for the reminder.
I will try to get the pics up.
I am not complete, I still have to drill the spring plate for the drop link.

I did the swap, not enough preload. (Sitting slammed, about 2" from hard bumpstops)

Got the pass side readjusted last night, driver side tonite....... (height looked good, we'll see after a test drive tonight)
