Hey all, I just got a 1974 Bug that needs some extensive front and rear horn work. I have done a bunch of reading and searching and found a few resources but I am looking for more info if anyone has any to offer.
While the body of my bug is relativly free of rust along with the floor pans and tunnel top the tunnel bottom is gone and the front horn and rear IRS horn area are completeley rotted out to the point it is unrepairable. I mean literally so rotted I can poke my finger right thru it in several places. The horns on the rear area are cracked and bending up about 1/4" it's so bad.
I have found everything I need to replace the front horn and tunnel area but I am unable to find the rear IRS hron portion. I did find one company in PA that sells and entire pan with the front horn and rear IRS but they are asking about $1400 for it plus another $375 since I don't have a rebuildable torsion core. If possible I would just like to replace the front horn and rear IRS since my pans and tunnel for the most part are in perfect shape.
I will continue my research but if anyone has any quick info or links covering this I would really appreciate it.

Welcome to the STF!
One possibility short of a new pan is a torsion tube out of a 924>944 Porsche.
Will also potentially get you a rear sway bar and (somewhat) adjustable spring plate setup and T4 CVs/stub axles if you can nail it compete. HD torsion bars as well.
quite easy to pull, the whole thing is held in with 4 bolts. (ignoring the axles etc) can all be pulled with hand tools.
Would still be somewhat custom but you can get the good black solid lube filled urethane torsion bushings for those too.
If you are up to welding in a stocker you can graft that one in ~as easily, and they are far more easily had cheap vs a pan.
(and a darn sight cheaper to ship, at least for an empty tube)
Combine that with the tubular CrMo frame horns and it could be done for ~$200ish (for parts)
If you are near Dallas I can drop the torsion tube (only) off...
(including your appx. locale helps)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
