Pilot Bearing in Crankshaft on Upright Conversion

Post by topnotch »

Hi,

I 'm building a Type 4 engine to go in a Bug which obviously has a Type 1 bug transmission in it.

I realise i need to get a conversion flywheel which has a pilot bearing pressed into the centre, but do i need to remove the pilot bearing out of the end of the Type 4 crankshaft?

Thanks, Mike

Yes, it will occupy the same air space so must be removed.
Try;

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
