New Steering wheel installation

I just purchased a Formuling France Steering wheel for my 74' 914 2.0L. Is there a video or instructions describing the installation. I don't want to screw anything up- what confuses me is that there is a contact plate on the factory column with a wire that goes to the factory horn-Do I remove it? . The FF steering wheel has it's own wire that goes from the bottom plate of the hub to the FF horn button.

Not having precisely that setup, I will describe how "stock" works and you can go from there.
(I just realized I'm describing the later vw setup, not the 914 setup, but the way they work is very similar, and I havent seen my 914 manual since I moved)
From memory... it has been awhile...
The "free" wire coming through the hollow column goes to the horn, it is hot, 12v goes to the horn, the switch grounds the horn.
The column itself is grounded around the rubber coupler at the steering box, and is the ground for the setup.
(on a 914 via a pair of ujoints, same elecrical setup as late bugs/t3s etc though)
The switch and rub strip in/under the wheel connect the two.
I have a pair of typical aftermarket hi/lo tone horns under my front bumper, and the stock setup seems incapable of providing a sufficient ground to make them work...
This issue is avoided by putting a relay coil in place of the original horn (electrically) and using the relay to work the horns...
That same technique also does absolute wonders for headlights... I run all my extra stuff like the horns, HIDs and the BN4 off a 6 fuse panel connected to the battery by a run of 6 gauge direct from the battery... all the relays are controlled by the original circuitry.
