I’ve searched google and all the common forum sites with really no luck.
I understand it’s longer and wider than type 1 cooling, but has anyone on here ever tried to use a flat type 4 cooling in a type 1 beetle or Ghia? I don’t ever plan to go back to type 1 so modifying the engine compartment does not bother me.
I have joes upright conversion book and that is my current plan. Just wondering if it’s been done (I am sure it has) and it anyone has pictures. It may give me more room for the turbocharger as well.

Re: Type 4 cooling in type 1
It is too long, beetle you would have to remove the all the apron, ghia most of the deck lid latch metal
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

its been done before but sticks out the back of the car .there are pics online of standard type 4 tinware in a bug(looks horrible )
i was going to do the joe cali conversion on mine until i bought some sharpbuilt upright kit.
its basically joe's design in fiberglass ,comes with everything you need and isn't expensive
