42mm python csp exhaust

hi folks,would the 42mm csp python exhaust be to big for a 1700 type4 engine?it is a bus carbed engine but im going to put a bigger cam in it and maybe dellorto carbs and it is going in my 68 beetle.thanks

You might be setting yourself up for a ‘flat spot’,
But,
If you ever were going to build bigger
(Like so many of us do)
It wouldn’t be a bad thing IMHO.

Lot of times, in the areas I drive, I’m pretty much always at idle anyways.
So idle, and maybe off-idle, and WFO are all that matters..
In that case, a too-big exhaust isn’t really a problem.

If you lived in the country, with a lot of nice curvy two-lane roads, then low-end and a nice fat transition would be more important..

i fight a few traffic lights at my work but otherwise its just all highway for about 30?miles and lots of big hills and some windy roads (which i like)

Can always make sure the exhaust system’s muffler is providing enough back pressure.

im going with a exhaust from turbo thomas.he is not cheap but is worth it plus im keeping heat in car and he makes heater boxes
