Since the nose cone on my trans came off one of the many blown swing axle trans in the shed years ago the bushing was totally shot. There was also some really heavy corrosion on the mount holes, so I went for a brand new nose cone. This new one is also a bit longer with the integrated seal.
My car is a 66 so I needed the plug for the reverse light switch. I got all my shift forks aligned and reverse lever adjusted. I was double checking everything with the nose cone installed and found all of a sudden my reverse gear was only like 1/2 way on the slider.
It seems the reverse shift rail interferes with the plug. If I back the plug out like this I get reverse perfectly, so I guess I'm taking about 3mm off this plug.
Anybody else have this issue?
Thanks,
Kelly

Re: reverse plug interference
oh I bet there is supposed to be a crush washer under this. Is that right? I've never had a later car with reverse lights.

Re: reverse plug interference
Indeed, there's an aluminum washer that goes there.
Likely you don't have one, so you can get around that by grinding the plug shorter, then use sealer on it.

You've got the reverse idler in backwards.
