Dry sump pump

Post by MNotary »

What is the brand of this pump? It has an cover alignment dowel on the lower right side. The body from the case to the cover is 77mm and the outer pressure body is 44mm.

I am getting 160 psi at 1100 rpm from the pressure side. The gauge at the engine is pegging at 70psi. The pressure relief valves seem to be working correctly. I have the pressure side going thru the filter to the cooler then the engine. The scavenge goes straight to the tank. The PO had the scavenge going to the filter, cooler and tank. I wouldn't think this would affect the output pressure.

thanks

Mike

Not sure on brand, Kind of looks like my ARMP bugpack type.

You will probably want to setup an external pressure relief and dump that into the tank vs back into the case.

That is a simple and reliable way to do it.

Original builder, from 1970's stash of Trans Am parts, couldn't remember but thought EMPI or Deano or..??

Would pressure to the filter and coolers reduce if it was dumped to the tank where there is no back pressure instead of to the engine? Looks like line reroute.
