Where to buy line boring tool

Post by ABlyholder »

I'm building a type IV motor and having frustrations with badly done line boring by machine shops. I'm interested in getting my own line boring tool so I can start doing this myself. But having trouble finding where to buy such a tool. Everyone doing this seems to have a tool bought and made many decades ago. Please let me know if you know where these are available.

Thank,

Rocky Jennings has them -- https://rockyjennings.com. He goes by PocketRocket on TheSamba too.

Talk to Rocky on the phone today. He's at $3,100 for his tool. A bit pricey for my budget. Any other suggestions out there?

Watch TheSamba or eBay as they appear from time to time. Also, I see you are in CA. Not sure who you've tried for line boring. I've seen and heard good things from Brothers VW Machine Shop in Ontario CA.

I wouldn't personally attempt doing line boring unless you have had machine shop training and have access to dial gauges Vee blocks and a decent surface plate.
