Just had the end clip for #4 cylinder Of 73 super break into five pieces. Any suggestions why?
Possible age of clip? (unknown) Should all be changed as precaution?

Re: Rocker shaft clip
It is a common wear item, stock engines last 10 years or better in stock form.
Enthusiastic driving and aftermarket cams can reduce that to days.
If this was to be stock I would have no issues to replace it with a used clip, solid rocker shaft kits are standard upgrade and do no harm (besides effort).

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Re: Rocker shaft clip
Solid shaft bonus, eliminating the shaft wavy washers and clips should give you less valvetrain noise if the rockers are properly shimmed for free play.
