If I run to small main jets can this damage my engine or just reduce output? (IDF 44's, 135 mains, 2413cc eng.) I will get new mains but in the meantime is it safe?

Also a sign is if you accellerate from 0 through the gears and car dies on top end, the main is too small.

By just dropping to 125 from 130 my bug just lost power on top end. I did notice from going from 135 down to 130 the car ran hotter but not danger hot. SO it has been a 130 for years. Less unburnd gas smell and car runs great.

An air/fuel ratio meter is the best tool for jetting. Unless you have a good knowledge of reading plugs.

I try to jet for 13.5 a/f for my mains. Any lower and your wasting fuel. Any higher, temps and combustion chamber pressure goes up. Small aircraft pilots are the masters on a/f ratios. They adjust their a/f on the "fly". LOL
