IN a surprise move, I spent some time working on my Ghia this weekend, and ended up the evening by firing it up for the first time this year.
But I have yet to address the problem that put it in the garage LAST year, which is... on short (under 10 mile) trips, the car runs fine. But at around 25 miles, the car stalls, almost like it's out of gas. It's been doing this for years, and is one of the reasons my dad stopped driving it much. He had the fuel system gone over (rebuilt fuel pump, carb) and I've checked to make sure the line isn't sitting on the hot part of the manifold. So I'm doubting it's fuel related...
What I'm now wondering is, could a faulty coil or condensor cause this? Once it gets hot enough it stops working?
Unfortunately, I didn't check this the last time it died. I'm thinking of changing the ignition stuff now just on principle, but wondered if there was a chance this was the problem. It's kind of a pain to go drive around just waiting for it to die...

Could be a faulty coil.Get a new bosch coil, and replace the points. If it still happens check fuel pump and valve lash and give it the usual tune up.
But I would start with the coil and ignition.
