I have a 72 Ghia coupe. Does anyone know how I can trace ownership to find out what the original mileage is? The engine I assume is the original, it starts with AE. The car is in fairly good condition and the odometer reads 40,000. Thanks.

Do a search on "birth Certificate". Someone asked this ? and was told how to find the info.

If you are trying to find a chain of title, try your local DMV. What do you mean by original mileage?......bet it was 0

Ha Ha . I've tried the DMV in New York where I purchased the car and they no longer give out this information. I'm just curious because I'm trying to decide if I should restore to original or go crazy.

Isn't the condition of the car more a factor here than the mileage? I mean, who cares if it's a low mileage car if everything on it is shot, or converesly, if it's got 135,000 miles on it if all the original stuff is there and useable???

If everything on it is decent you may want to avoid restoring it all together. There is an increasing interest in original cars these days, even if they don' t have that shiny fresh look to them.
