Here is a link to an article I wrote up a while ago about replacing rubber, I did it with Cal-Look Rubber but the installation is the same save having to install the trim in the rubber before you put the rubber on the windshield.

Good Luck, Be careful, it's not hard to break the windshield.

Yeah you may want to look here also: http://www.ghiagirl.com/garage_07/g7a.htm
There are some serious potential problems with putting front and back windows in these cars. I don't think it's an issue unless you are using the seals with the metal trim.
I still haven't verified this but I am told that your new American made rubber is the wrong size seal for your old German window.
I know that our new American windsheild was smaller than our old German one and that, only then did the American seal fit.
Anyone else?

I'm about to replace the rubber windshield seal for my 1964 Ghia (original style, not Cal style) and would like to hear any suggestions and/or a list of steps from those who've done this before. Thanks!

I have the feeling there are varying degrees of quality and when holding fresh new rubber even of the lower variety it's hard to know what you have.
I recently had to put new rubber on all the windows in my sis-in-law's '74 beetle, we were also replacing a cracked windshield. Long story short, all went in ok till we got to the windshield. The (cal-look) rubber we got for the windows seemed too BIG for the window (didn't want to stay on it) and I ended up cracking the H@#$% out of it trying to install it.
Maybe there is no rhyme or reason to the sizing of these aftermarket components and it's just a crap shoot as to what you get?!

Search this forum for "Windshield Woes" and you'll find out why I'll never attempt it again.
