bus won\'t shift into second, or 3rd, or 4th
my 71 camper will only shift into gear when not running. once running it then cant be put into second. The clutch pedel can be pushed down, but it dosen't seem to do anything about rpm's. I looked at the end of the pedal(under the bus)but could not find anything that the end of the clutch cable could hook on to. Hmmmm? Well, I have a feeling I will get it fixed, but being a new owner/mechanic, I need some help. Thanks folks! B

I have fixed the problem with the shiftting. it was the cable. It was not easy to run through the tube alone so I brought home some bail wire for cardboard compactors then i tied some speaker wire to the bail wire and ran it through from the rear. I then untied the wire from the bail wire and retied it onto the clutch cable and then pulled thebail wire with the speaker wire attached out of the end farthest from the pedal then pull on the speaker wire a little at a time, going from fback to the front in order to grease the cable! Now I can get to work nice and early tomorrow. hope this helps anyone!
quote:
Originally posted by b:
