Hi. I have a 79 bus, automatic. One day it wouldn't start, didn't make any noise at all. I wanted to check out the ignition switch so I dropped the steering column and was going to take off the steering wheel when I happened to try it again, it started. I seems to have to do with whatever I did when I dropped the steering column; jiggled the wires, possibly. Now it randomly starts or doesn't start. I want to check for shorts, or loose connections, possibly to the starter or battery (?) but I'm not sure what to look for. Thanks.

probably worn connections on the ignition switch, you can replace the switch at the back of the ignition barrel, and for good measure fit a relay to power the solenoid directlly from the battery, the relay is controlled from the original solenoid wire coming from the ignition switch, better descriptions/instructions can be obtained from www.type2.com
