B.V.F Show Review

Set in the 3 Counties Show Ground & surrounded by good views of the Malvern Hills. BVF is in my humble opinion is one of the top 5 UK shows and a ?must attend? event. Due to starter problems on Aide?s bus, a mystery misfire on both my bay & Elaine?s 66 we drove down in Elaine?s Golf leaving Manchester at 8am in the grey and damp morning air arriving at BVF to glorious sunshine 2 hours later.

So £7 entrance fee, and we are through the gates including Aide who made £1 on the whole change thing less said the better! So we started searching the swap meet, which was very large with most big companies represented excluding machine 7, Volksworld & KarmenKonnection.
We managed to find some of the things we needed, I bought a pair of sun visors & rubber pedal covers for my bay, Elaine found a 6-volt dizzy cap N.O.S. for £2 & a clutch & accelerator cable for £8 for her emergency kit and also a large bottle of MER. (bookings being taken for valeting)
Aide got a forksey adjuster & 2 door seals for his bay. But I won?t tell how much they cost. Unfortunately parts like Porsche to bay wheel adaptors proved to be elusive.
After the shopping expedition, we checked out the show cars & the for sale area. There were some interesting things their inc. a black bug on a trailer that I liked but Aide didn?t a cool trekker (£2800.oo) a pink & yellow checked bay pickup (Clare liked this one)& loads of cool cars campers ect thou the prices were as you would expect not the cheapest in the world.
I saw many familiar faces and heard the tails of terrible weather on the Saturday night (thunderstorms and violent lightning for 3 hours whith many folks sheltering in the covered halls). We enjoyed BVF 2001 and next year we will stay the weekend

Hiya s,axel,

Thanks for the report on the show. I always wonder what the "Volkswagen World" is like on the other side of the pond.

One thing I particularly think about is the availablity of parts. Are some of the parts we have to search for easy to find in Europe? And vice versa. For example, I'm looking for a rear window (with defroster) for my 70 Bus. None here (at least in working condition) in the States. I've heard that they may be obtainable over in Europe. Ever seen any at a show over there?

Need anything from over here?

yep i saw one at BVF aide pointed it out coz he had never seen one before but it was used and the elements on those heated window things tend to get damaged a lot on most things.can't you order a new one over there ?as there is probaby some one who makes them.
anyhow who wants to see whats behind them?

BE aware the Flat Four " GT " steering wheel is a piece of s**t ! it's the same el -cheapo wheel sold by Grant for $30.00 ! it is made in Taiwan and SUCKS OUT LOUD ! they should be ASHAMED to sell this junk ! a couple years ago they made a nice GT wheel but NO MORE ~ DON'T get ripped off ! .

I like and buy quite a bit of Flat Four stuff but this is INEXCUSEABLE BULL S**T .

Sorry for the late reply - I recommend gewtting the steering wheel you like , just make sure it's a good one - if you like the fake wheel it's fine , just don't pay $200.00 when it can be had for $35.00 . I like the stock wheels and keep all my Empi etc. wheels on display . 010's I don't sell - need 'em for my fleet . Flat 4 is selling through Moon Eyes in So.Cal. pop outs ? I haven't seen a set loose from a car I was reconditioning in a while - I see them for $50.00 @ Pomona on a regular basis , should be available over there too - broker a car and strip out the stuff you want , replace with YOUR stock bits , polish & kiss it goodbye :-0
