Posting a reply to a new owner prompted me to post this public service anouncement to all bus owners:
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW OLD YOUR FUEL LINES ARE, RIGHT FROM THE TANK TO THE ENGINE, YOU ARE DRIVING A POTENTIAL MOBILE MOLOTOV COCKTAIL.
Cracked and leaky fuel lines are responsible for most bus fires. Bend your lines, if they crack, replace them for sure. If you don't know how old they are, replace them all.
While you are at it, replace all gas/air hoses -- leaks in vaccuum hoses and other hoses mess up the performance of your FI system.
Make sure all the hose clamps are good.
Make sure the fuel filter is under the Van, near the tranny, were it belongs, and that no-one has moved it to a more "convenient" and dangerous location.
Leave some extra line in the system, so you can trim bad ends (they get hard and can crack) and still have good hose, short of renewing the whole line.
This ends this public service announcement.
