Rear Torsion bar splines?

Does anyone know how many splines are on the outer and inner ends of a Van rear torsion bar? I know that the Beetle torsion bars have 40 inner and 44 outer.

The early transporters had 44 splines on both ends

sorry for the long delay.

hank above is partially correct, but his numbers probably refer to swing-axel rear ends.

my bentley says 44 splines inner and 48 splines outer for a spline angle of 8deg 10min inner and 7deg 30min outer.

hope that is of use.

Can anyone verify if the early van splines are for the ealry bay ('68-'70) or split van?

Ok... but what about the early bays which are IRS but have the larger 205mm PCD drums/wheels?
