75 bay wiring

Post by paradox »

So I just got my 75bay home that I bought for a wopping $200 I am really stoked. The body is in excellent shape and the reason my buddy sold it was because the electrical kept giving him problems. Here is what is going on, it had the original engine pulled out of it and a 1700 w/ duel carbs put in place of the fuel injection. Then a manual trans put in, in place of the auto. So what I am left with is a lot of extra wires everywhere. I know a little about wiring and would like to get it all wired up correctly I just don't know where to start or what wiring diagram to go off of. Any help such as books or web pages or anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys for atleast hearing me rant.

Get your Bentley manual. Read the wiring diagrams, excellent bedtime reading for the insomniacs. Find all of your color codes for the VW Diagnostic plug, track them from the plug to their destinations, and you can get rid of more wires than you thought possible in one fun-filled afternoon.

if you don't have a bentley, you can get the wiring diagrams here:
http://www.vintagebus.com/wiring/index.html

after you get the diagrams, go out and find a bentley manual because you can't do without it.

As for all the "extra" wires, look on my web site for: "What is this plug in my engine bay?" Full details.
