Carb setups/Facts not opinions?

Does anyone have hard data or maybe some article with dyno tested facts about what carb setups give the most HP and mileage on what motors? Iam looking at upgrading the carb setup on my bus, and every time I ask someone I get more opinion than actual facts. Which isnt bad, Id just like to see some numbers. I know there are many elements that effect power and mileage other than just the carb setup, but I dont want to drop alot of money and not be happy with what I have. I have a 71 bay, fresh 1641 with merged header. Otherwise stock.

Hot VW`s Magazine did a good article on modifying a stock 1600 --Carbs-exhaust etc. and dynoed the motor----March 1998---hard facts---Bill
