The external fuel filler on the right front fender started with 1968 Ghias. It became remotely operated via the cable pull under the right side dash in 1969.
Yes, a conversion could be done to an earlier Ghia but it's a difficult modification. Personally, I like the vintage feature where you must open the front trunk lid for access to the fuel tank filler. Your '67 KG is a rather unique model year and value would probably suffer if major changes like an external gas filler are done to it.

I have a 74 Coupe with the external fuel filler door but I prefer the older style tank where you have to open the trunk to fill the tank. This older method has the added advantage that you get to check your spare and keep it aired up so the windshield washer works. Keep the older style and keep the value of the car high. My .02 worth!

My '71 had the external filler..which I didn't mind...until the release handle/strap broke.

The best part is asking the "Full Service" gas station guy to check the
oil...and releasing the catch on the 'front' hood. :-)

- gets 'em every time... 8)

Well considering that my car is gonna be a total custom job I think the nevelty value of having the older style gaslid is out the window. Im putting a ford 2.3 turbo in her for kicks. Anyway in the later gaslid years is the gastank moved further back or is it in the same location?
