I was just curious about what other types of seats (American/Foreign) Ghia owners have installed in their cars without cutting anything up. I have a 70 Vert and I'm looking for some replacement seats that recline and move forward and back with little effort. I understand there might be some welding, but I'd like to keep the original tracks in place.

Just installed a pair of reclining Scat Pro seats in a 1970 Ghia convertible. There was no welding, just a little drilling to make holes align to bolt the seat rails to the stock rails. The seats move very easily and look awesome. They do sit you a little higher in the car than stock. Got my deal from CIP1.com. Seat Tracks from Scat direct.

At one time I had 1980s Porsche 911 seats in my '70 Ghia. I bolted a piece of sheet metal over the stock seat rails and mounted the Porsche seats on that. It only involved drilling two holes in the seat rails, and did not affect their operation when stock seats were re-installed.

i've had a few different junk yard seats in my 70. all i did was weld angle iron across the car from the shift tunnel to the heater channel, then drill for the seat to bolt down. it makes the seats sit higher, but if you use a thinner seat it can even be lower than stock (for us tall guys).

The seats in our Ghia were in it when we bought it. I think they are Toyota Supra seats. They were bolted to the front of the original seat tracks and then through the floor pan in the rear. They adjust well - I think they sit lower than stock seats - which is a plus as my son is 6'4 It's his car - I get the enjoyment of doing the work on it Here is a link to a picture of them http://www.hamilton.net/~marty/Ghia/InP ... ameSet.htm

On my old rusty '71 Coupe I used a set of Mazda 626 seats.
They have small "legs" built right onto the seat frame, so the stock
Ghia seat tracks didn't need to be modified. A couple of holes through the floors with LARGE retaining washers and they were in.
They were 10 way adjustable and slid very easily on the mazda seat tracks. I'll miss them, but my Vintage low-back seats will be more suitable for my project car.

BMW sport seats from a late '80's 325 coupe/convertible. The two flat and parallel tracks fit just inside my '70's stock seat tracks (no mangling), and I fastened them to the floor (with big washers) with 4 bolts. The seats resemble early Recaro seats, with side bolsters, removable headrests, under-knee supports, height adjustment, and seatback release levers. The black seats look great and match my stock black rear seat.

I did 1974 corvette seats in my first ghia. My dad had them lying around in the garage. I just took the stock ghia rails and bolted to 1"x1/8" steel across them. Then the corvette seats bolted right to them. Took about 2 hours to do both.
