I have a 914 1700cc with 16K on. This is a clean engine and has slightly higher horse power than your 412 motor. The shroud has the inspection hole (to set the timing) as on your 412 wagon. You would have to use your sheet metal since 412 sheet metal is different from anything else and remove flywheel if you have auto tranny to install torque convertor.
Other than that this is a direct bolt-in.
Located Naples, FL, about 3 hours from you if interested

Actually, if its a 1.7L...it is identical down to the last nut and bolt...to the 1.7 in the 411/412 with injection. Same case, jugs, domed pistons, heads, valves, compresion, cam, distributor, MPS, injectors, ECU (E-series)....everything. Same 82 HP. Ray

Want to keep it at 1800cc. Think I'm going to try and rebuild myself. It had F.I. Has been replaced with dual weber carbs. The compressor for the A.C. is missing, but the rest of the system is there. Should/Can I run a A.C. with carbs? Is it too problematic, with an automatic transmission?

The auto trans will not be a problem at all. Caxambas was right. If you have a 1.8L...the 1.7 from a 914 or a 412...had about 15 more HP...especially with injection compared to carbs. The AC will probably be OK on the highway...but on hills and traffic, I would turn it off. Top gear on the auto trans is no different than the manual trans. Ray

$750 outright without flywheel (you don't need it for your auto tranny anyway) and without sheet metal (yours is different) but including cooling fan, alternator etc.). Put your sheet metal on, flex plate etc, and carbs or fuel injection, install and you are in business. If you run carbs you will need an electric fuel pump - but I assume this is on your motor now anyway- since the fuel injected block does not have provision for mechanical fuel pump.
$650 if you return me your motor (at least a short block with or without heads, with or without pistons).
Also, the oil dipstick is next to the breather tower on 914, just as on 412 sedans. If your motor is an original 412 variant, your dipstick location is on the front side and cannot be used. This will not cause any problem, it is just 2 less places for oil leaking (2 rubber sleeves, probably hard to find)
