messae spécial for mr. ray grenwood. please transfer the message my name is albert from québec in1971 and 1974 y by this 2 type 4 and now i found 1973 412 -2 doors 60,000miles not big rust and i look your forum and some time some peple ask you wat is the fucking steerofoam in the car. do the test before to remove that it is there for to stop the transfer the inside warm air to the motor the humiditées stay on the roof inside and doo the rust on the roof steel wend the température is very cold h.s. i have this probleme in 1975 on my car and the mécanitian at that time said me ,,the factory forget to put steerofoam in the bac of the car and afther he repair that the probleme d,ont came back ,albert ,,ps ,,d,ont put my note on your forum my english is very bad good loock and long life at your forum

Don't worry albert...your english is fine. My French is worse :wink: . Yes, the foam was used to block area where moisture could condense. The real problem with it was shrinkage and separation over the years. It will allow a leak to soak the foam with water...wherein it rusts next to the metal. If you catch it before it rusts through....I think you will be OK. I think you can remove the foam with acetone. In some areas like the rear of the heater channels, the fender wells and the inside of the back hood, you will at least need to replace it with silicone once you are finished. Ray
