Saw this posted in THeSamba.com forums....anyone else interested in caravanning in a group?
ive talked to a few clubs in my area and they seem interested along with a few other individuals. begining of 2004 il get serious and see how many are serious as well. i have a thread in the chat/general right now, but the low down is......start northern california friday morning, and pick up other people on the way down at designated meeting spots at a agreed time. stop at a few gas stations on the way down that can handle a poop load of cars, to get in, gased up, and back on the road as quickly as possible. and hopefully make it friday night at lenny copp's bbq at west coast classic resto....but after long ass drive maybe just the hotel. im gonna have to stress the fact that people have faith and trust their VW, for those who havent drive their acvw to so-cal in june....its a long....boring....sometimes hot...DRIVE, and after 4 hours of driving then you have to climb the grapevine which sometimes is 35mph in 3rd gear against the wind. AAA is a plus, 80 bucks a year and you have 400 miles you can be towed for free..i have it and its great! as for break downs...minor break downs lets get it back on the road quickly, but if you blew your engine or lost your clutch and it cant be fixed on the side of the road.....im gonna say your SOL and you better have AAA. just becouse their maybe 99 other people pissed off and irritated for stopping once again. like i said before early 04 il see how many SERIOUS people i have ......20-30 FOR SURE people is worth me wasting my time to try and get more people to join, anyless its not worth is in my eyes. as for getting the word out, il do what i can but if you want this to happen as much as i, i hope that some of you can put a effort to spread the word.

Stop 1. will be at 46365 Panoche rd. Appx 100 miles from modesto arrival time 9am
Stop 2. will be Highway 58 Bakersfield. Left at stop sign, Left at Tracy Ave continue to the TA/76 gas station on the Right hand side (huge lot/gas station) this is Appx 110 Miles fomr stop 1 arrival time 11:30am
Stop 3. the 76 and Mobile Stations at the Lake Hughes exit on I-5, This stop is Appx 81 miles from stop 2 arrival time arrival time 1pm
From here we can drive straight to the DKP meet or just head to hotels, Depending on the time and how many people are with us.
The whole trip will be on I-5 from modesto to so-cal The start time can be changed to accomidate anyone thats coming north of modesto. I plan to drive 60-65 the whole trip. If you want to join me or need to add in another stop to meet up with you please email me @ kombi58@msn.com
