leaded gasoline

Post by meadowesky »

I will be purchasing a 1973 VW transporter. The man who owned it has passed away. This man took meticulous care of his VW's but when i talked to his daughter she said that there were a bunch of bottles of lead/lead substitute in the van and that he had mixed them with the unleaded gasoline. Is this necessary? I have not been able to find actual lead to mix ( I think they outlawed it) but i found the substitute. This is my first VW and i want to make sure that it is taken care of. Thanks in advance![/i]

vw went to hardened valve seats in about 68 so you don't need the additive.
