The paint gun I used is a Finex by Sharpe
Model number FX300 HVLP... Part number 248756 (1.4mm tip)
It worked for both... The next time I think I will buy a smaller nozzel for the paint and a larger for the primer... say the 1.3mm for paint and a 1.8mm for the primer...
http://www.sharpe1.com/finex.htm is the manufacturer page on the gun I have...
I also bought a 22 gallon, 5 HP compressor at schucks auto parts store...
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... mber=COAC5 is the compressor I bought... (I think it was a little under powered but worked fine... Just use an inline air drier... glad I did, as when I drained it after hours and hours of consant operation, about 1/4 gallon of water came out the drain...
Total the paint cost me about $215 for primer, paint (all the mixings), rust prep (acid)... the place gave me a military discount so it was well discounted, most about 15% off but the paint was almost 50% off... I think it would have cost about $400 before the discounts...
The tank was $149... (picked up at my local schucks, if you get the same one... print the page I linked... it's $100 more in the stores and they will price match it for $149 instead of $249...)
The gun was $115 I think... I was planning on a $80 gun that had the paint un a jar under the gun and was pressure fed... I am glad I went with this one instead... easy to use, and is a HVLP (which basically means less over spray and such, the cloud it makes is more direct and doesn't blow everywhere like a conventional gun does).
Lastly, I know the gun requires a higher rating then my compressor pushed out... but the gun is rated 11.4 cfn @ 29 psi... the tank only being rated at 5.8 @ 40psi, but I didn't have any issues... you ran the tank at a controlled 35-38 psi via the regulator and it worked great...
