Post by Mike T »

My latest project is a 1975 Porsche 914 powered by a 5.0 liter Chevy small Block V8. I compete in SCCA Solo II in E-Modified.

Right now the weight is 1875lbs. I still have fiberglass body parts to go on the car(fiberglass rear quarters and doorskins) and the V8 still has cast iron heads. I expect to trim down to 1775lbs before the end of the summer.

Are you a member of the 914club.com? Those guys over there would love to see your car. If you are not interested in sharing over there, I might cross-post these pictures.

BTW, where did you source the windscreen?

I just competed against a 914 with the 215CI Olds' aluminum V8 w/650CFM carb yesterday in auto-X... but it wasn't that impressive...those tires would have probably helped  As it was he had some 215's I think, but still wasn't particularly fast.

Well, the driver has a lot to do with it as well. My car was initially somewhat slower when I put the V8 in than it was with the V6. I had to retune the suspension to take full advantage of the extra power. I still have more speed to unlock. Things happen incredibly fast with a car this light with this much power on slicks. It takes a lot of adjustment to "catch up" to the car's potential.

I've been a member of 914club.com for quite some time. I've posted pics there too.

The windscreen is from Rennspeed Motorsports.

I saw this car in person on Saturday, pretty sweet. It's surprising how well an engine that's twice as big fits in there.
